KIDSBOOKS – COLOURS | LEAFY

LISTEN TO THE POEM BEING READ AT: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZSdeUChfe/?k=1
I am the colour of fresh spring grass
And the colour of peas in a pod
I am also what many parrots look like
And the colour a grasshopper’s got

I am the tint on crunchy, young apples
On honeydew, pears and grapes
I am the colour of the Nile crocodile
and the sss-slithering grass snake

I am the colour of the beautiful jade
And the rustling leaves on trees
I am also the colour of your sweet face
When you’ve had too much ice cream!

I am the colour of the deep dark woods
The loveliest marble you’ve ever seen!
I am sometimes also called Mother Nature
I am the beautiful colour GREEN

KIDSBOOKS | THE COLOURBLIND ORANGE

There was once an Orange
Who thought that he was green
He often wondered why they called him
Orange. Couldn’t they see?

He also wondered what the colour
Orange looked and felt like
So he asked his friend, Watermelon
To help him see and decide

You see, Orange saw the world
A little differently from others
Reds and greens and oranges
Took on brand new shades and colours

Sunsets looked like purple dragons
Breathing out silver fire
Trees looked yellow as the sun
Dotted with blue-green flowers

And so Watermelon sat down to think
His seeds jumped up and down
Then suddenly they froze in place
There was a solution he had found!

He would show Orange his face
In a mirror on the wall
Then Orange would see what the colour
Orange looked like after all

So they both rolled up to the glass
And stared at their reflections
Orange said “See, I’m green too”
“We are both of us watermelons!”
